What’s the AIC Staff Bullettin Board for?
This network allows you to:
- Meet your future colleagues and, once you’ll be assigned to a specific camp, start working with your team about the camp’s theme, the daily activities, the final show and so on.
- Keep in touch with the organization.
- Download text files, watch videos, see photos and learn everything you need to know about camp’s activities and didactic instruments you will use.
- Have real-time news concerning the job, the accomodation, the training days in Italy and much more.
Share teaching aids and resources with the other members (ex: book titles, website links, songs, arts and crafts ideas, etc.).
How does the AIC Staff Bulletin Board work?

When will I be paid?
You’ll be refunded cash at the end of the second week if you are staying for two weeks, at the end of the third one if you are staying for three.
Is the training in London compulsory?
No, it isn’t but it’s highly recommended.
Is the training in Milan compulsory?
Yes, it is. You can’t work with us if you don’t attend training days.
Will the training take place in the school I’ll be working at?
It won’t, but you’ll meet your coordinator and colleagues in front of it at 8.00 a.m., then you’ll reach the place where the training is with them and the other tutors.
For the training days, will the association pay us extra money at the end of the camp?
You won’t receive any extra refund for that and we remind you that if you don’t attend the training days, you will receive 50€ less for every skipped day. We recommend you all to read once again the tutor inforamtion file you should have already read.
Can I hang out with other tutors and go out in my free time?
Yes, of course you can!
Is the hosting available during weekends?
Yes, it is.
Are the camps aimed at italian children only?
Children attending camps live in Italy.
Do children sleep at the camp? Or do they go home?
Children go home every day when camp day is over.
Can I choose the kids grade I’ll work with?
No, you can tell us which grade you prefer and we’ll do our best to accomplish your needs.
What should I wear at work?
We don’t require a formal dress code, just remember that you are working with children and meet their families so don’t wear hot pants or miniskirts. For safety reasons, we recommend you not to wear flip-flops or heels and always keep your shoulders covered by a t-shirt in order to avoid sunburns.
What shouldn’t i forget in my suitcase?
You shouldn’t forget:
- Teaching resources you may need for the activities you’ve planned (books, CDs, DVDs, puppets, stickers, parachute…)
- Sunblock
- Insect repellent and afterbite spray
- Sneakers
Will I have a break during the day?
Yes, you’ll have a 45-minutes break every day according to the camp needs.
Is the staff meeting compulsory?
Yes, it is. It’s part of the working day.
Am I supposed to stay with the children at lunch and eat with them?
Yes, you are.
Are my expenses paid?
Your weekly refund (250,00€/week) includes all expenses.
What should I do if I have specific food needs/diet (allergies, intolerances, dislikes, et cetera)?
Let us know your specific food needs/diet when you apply for the job. If you’re hired:
- If you ask for a medical diet, you must provide a prescription signed by your doctor. Otherwise we won’t be able to assure you can get the diet you need.
- If you ask for a religious (muslim, kosher,..) or ethic (vegetarian, vegan,..) diet, there’s no problem but you will be asked to fill a form at the training days.
If i have specific food needs/diet, will my hosting family guarantee what i require?
Yes, please try to be as clear as possible when you fill the application form.
Do I have an insurance?
Yes, you are insured on work hours. In Italy first aid is provided by hospitals for free. If you need any kind of medicine you have to pay for it.
Do children have an insurance?
Yes, they do.
What happens if I get ill or injured?
The insurance will cover all medical expenses for injuries on work hours. If you get injured or get ill not on work hours, the public health system will take care of all expenses, but you’ll have to pay for any eventual medicine you may need. If any of this occurs, the association and the hosting families we’ll give you all the assistance you may require.
What if a kid gets ill or injured at the camp?
Together with the italian staff, you will have to provide the kid first aid. For any serious injuries you will have to call the paramedics.
Can I go home before the end of the working period?
If you go home before the end of your working period, you won’t be refunded.
What should I do to work with you?
You have to send the application form and projects to our recruitment office (recruitment.aic@gmail.com).
When am I going to be confirmed?
The vast majority of Tutors of SCC will be hired before the end of April. Others will be
confirmed in May.
Some job offers for ESC and BS will be made only in June.
How do I know if I have been hired?
Our recruitment office will contact you to confirm you have been hired.
Will you provide me a reference letter at the end of the working period?
Of course, if you ask for it. Anyway you’ll receive a certificate with details about the work and training.
When am I supposed to get to Italy/Spain?
You are supposed to get to Italy/Spain the day before the training days.
When am I supposed to leave?
You are supposed to leave the day after the last day of camp.
Do I have to follow the daily schedule?
Yes, you have to follow the daily schedule. Changes must be agreed with the italian staff during staff meetings.
Who decides what’s in the daily schedule?
The structure of the daily schedule is decided by the association, shared with the kids’ parents and therfore can’t be subjet of major changes. Tutors, with the staff and in particular with the coordinator, can choose the activities according to the camp theme.
How can I deal with issues outside my area of expertise?
You can ask for help to your working team or your supervisor.
Is there just one airport in Milan?
No, there are three airports: Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, Bergamo Orio al Serio.
How will I meet my hosting family?
A few days before your arrival, the association will send you all contacts of your hosting family and the hosting family will get yours. You can get in touch and decide when and where to meet once you get to Italy/Spain.
How will I get to my hosting house?
You should talk about this subject with your hosting family, once you get their e-mail address. They may pick you up at the airport/train station or ask you to reach their house by public transport.
How will I get to school?
Your hosting family will bring you there the first time or show you the way.
How can I find information about Milan?

When will I know the location of my school?
You will know the address of your school once you get invited to the Social Network where you can start working with the rest of your camp staff.
Is my hosting family far from the location of the school?
Usually, your accomodation will be in the same neighborhood of your school.
Will I have access to computer/Internet/printers?
Usually at school it’s not possible to use computers and printers, but you can make photocopies, anyway ask to your coordinator for this kind of details and let her/him know about your needs so you can find a solution together. We don’t require the hosting families to let the tutor use the computer/internet, but often they give this opportunity and of course you can ask them directly.

What are the duties of the Camp Coordinator?
The Camp Coordinator is an italian staff member in charge of the coordination of all activities of a specific Camp.
The main duties of the Camp Coordinator are:
- To lead the discussion about the camp theme on the Social Network
- To coordinate the camp staff during the training days
- To coordinate the planning of the daily camp activities and to check that those same activities are run in a proper way
- To communicate with families and school staff (headmaster, caretakers, canteen attendant, et cetera)
- The Camp Coordinator must report daily to the Camp Supervisor, who is a memeber of the association. The Camp Supervisor will be at the camp only occasionally.
What are the duties of the Camp Assistant?
The Camp Assistant is an italian staff member and supports both the coordinator and the tutors work.
The main duties of the Camp Assistant are:
- To take part to the discussion about the camp theme on the Social Network
- To support the camp staff during the training days
- To support tutors working with kids by helping them to set up the classrooms and to collect material and resources
- To organize workshops, sport activities, et cetera, according to the specif camp needs
- To help tutors to communicate with the families and the school staff
